Shrimp with Basil-Garlic Butter
"I recently ventured to Brooklyn Heights, where I had a sensational meal at Henry's End," says Mariana Field Hoppin of New York, New York. "The shrimp with basil-garlic butter was out of this world. Could you obtain the recipe?"
Pesto-Tomato Clams
Prepared pesto is widely available; here it brightens up quickly cooked clams. Offer some crusty bread for soaking up the broth and a salad of bagged Mediterranean greens dressed with balsamic vinaigrette. End with gelato and biscotti for an authentic Italian touch.
Shaved Raw Artichoke Salad
For this salad choose a very fresh, tightly closed artichoke with no brown edges and do all the prep work right before serving to prevent discoloration.

Caramelized Figs with Vanilla Ice Cream and Aged Balsamic Vinegar
This dessert hits both sweet and savory notes. Aged balsamic vinegar has a syruplike consistency, so a little drizzle goes a long way.

Clams with Fennel and Pernod
Fresh fennel, fennel seeds and the anise-flavored liqueur Pernod are combined here.
Tapenade Caesar with Prosciutto
This innovative take on the classic features an intensely flavored olive and raisin tapenade that is also great teamed with breadsticks or spread onto bruschetta. Crispy egg-bread croutons are also a nice addition
Asparagus with Herbed Goat Cheese Sauce
This recipe is inspired by our trip to London aboard the Eurostar. The light, delicate sauce, which I make with fresh goat cheese from the market in Louviers, is perfect with freshly steamed asparagus (preferably white, though it is wonderful with green as well). If you can't find fresh goat cheese you may make this with fresh cow's cheese — the flavor will be different but as delectable.

Persimmon Salad with Sweet Ginger Vinaigrette
The griddled persimmon cakes we had with duck in Xi'an inspired this salad.
Citrus Pesto
Toss one cup of the pesto with one pound of cooked pasta, or try it as a sauce over baked chicken or fish.
