Ingredients

1 16-ounce basket strawberries, hulled, coarsely chopped
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice

Preparation

  1. Stir strawberries, sugar and lemon juice in heavy medium saucepan over medium heat until sugar dissolves. Bring to boil. Reduce heat and simmer 3 minutes. Transfer strawberry sauce to bowl. Chill until cold, about 2 hours. (Can be made 1 day ahead. Cover and keep chilled.)
